Re: Lahman and other files

One of the files listed on the download page where I got the game was lahman50-2k.zip. I downloaded this but haven't done anything with it. What am I suppose to do with it? What exactly does it do?
The Lahman Database is primarily used for historical careers. If you wanted to start a league in a particular year then you would use the database to import the actual players and rookies from that year with all of their real life career stats intact. It does not provide a history to a league for the most part but will provide stats for individual players depending on when you import them into the league. For instance, if you imported Babe Ruth during his rookie year then obviously he wouldn't have any stats. If started a league several years later and used the database then he would have career stats from his rookie year until the year that you are starting the league at.

I downloaded TotalMinors (which looks like it sets all the names for active players and adds the better prospects so do I not need lahman?)
You will not need the Lahman Database if you are using the TotalMinors roster set, which is arguably the best there is.

BTW, I didn't mean to knock on Shub's facepack in my previous post since I didn't even know that he had one available. I just know that from my experience that the DD facepack works really well. Besides that, it seems really popular among solo and online league players alike.

Are there any other files I should look into?

It would be nice if there were a step by step guide for the beginner on setting up the game to use the latest db files, etc. to help get you started. I know these are not official but I get the impression that most (or at least a lot) of people update the games files after downloading.
I agree.
