The patch is not compatible with the app store version - you have to wait until Apple releases their own version of the patch.
Just reinstall the original program (and whatever patches they do have), and you should be fine again.
As for the league,
if all players are not on the same version (and patch), you will experience issues such as financial budgets going out of whack, etc, so the league should be advised to wait until Apple gets caught up.
