Dodgers Locked In Three Way Battle For Division Flag
Los Angeles, Ca.- Thanks to a torrid month of September in which they've gone 21-8, the Dodgers have put themselves in a position to take the National League's Western Division flag from the surprising Astros, who have led the way since the all-star break.....and oh the Giants are here for the party as well.
As it stands, the Dodgers and Astros are deadlocked at 86-73 with the Giants one game back at 85-74, and as fate would have it, the Dodgers and Astros are set to battle it out in a three game series, the last three games of the season, beginning tomorrow here at Dodger Stadium. The Giants meanwhile open a three game series tomorrow at Candlestick against the last place Padres. Here's how it all breaks down:
If either the Dodgers or Astros sweep their series they win the division regardless of what the Giants do.
If the Dodgers/Astros series breaks two games to one, than the winner is the division champion UNLESS the Giants sweep San Diego, in which case the Giants will play the winner of the Dodgers/Astros series in a one game playoff to decide the division winner.
