RU Stars Smack TU Stars 7-4, Hobbs MVP
Overall in IPA All-Star competition, the Tycobbian Stars have dominated the Ruthlandian Stars, but not for the last two years... the RU All-Stars smacked the TU All-Stars 7-4 at Jock Ewing Stadium in South Fork for their second win in a row in the series... However, Tycobbia still is way ahead overall with an 18-8 mark... Roy Hobbs (Waleska) was voted the game's Most Valuable Player... Hobbs led the RU Stars with 2 hits, 3 RBIs and 2 runs scored... Hobbs hit the only home run in the game.
Ruthlandia built up a 5-1 lead after 4 innings and kept Tycobbia at bay the rest of the game... the RU outhit the TU 12 to 9 with 2B George Varsh (Marston), LF Loco Dillinger (Waleska), LF Kenny Willard (Ancona) and rookie RF Dave Skoglund (Volusia) also driving in a run apiece for the victors... RF Dennis Hartwig (Oxford) paced the TU Stars with a double and sac fly to drive in 2 runs... 2B Roland Campbell (High Mesa) and 1B Steve Burns (Colchester) drove in the other 2 scores... Lon Marshall (Wynnamac) claimed the win with a scoreless third inning, while Tycobbia starter Daniel Ferguson (Ginza) was tagged with the loss... Ferguson allowed 2 runs in the opening inning.
