Make sure your real photos are in Data\photos folder. From the ootp icon on top, select "ootp preferences". Click on the the facegen tab and on the last option (picture search mode), set it to photo first.
Since you already have facegens for your players though, you'll probably need to update the players pics to get the real ones to show.
