2025 IPA Final 4 Series

Ruthlandian Union

Crushers Edge Roosters, Welch Wins Opener 3-2
Manager Herman "Baby" George continues to get super pitching... The low-scoring Crystal Lake Crushers edged Middlefield 3-2 in the opening game of the Ruthlandian Final 4 Series... and they did it the hard way, scoring runs on a balk, wild pitch and finally a base hit... winning pitcher Duncan Welch (2-1 1.44) went 8 strong innings, limited the Roosters to 4 hits and 2 runs, while fanning 8 and walking just one batter... closer Keith Hunter finished it off with a runless ninth... Danny Denver (1-1 3.13) was done in by mistakes... he went the route, gave up 6 hits and 3 runs... it was 0-0 until the bottom of the sixth when the Crushers went up 2-0... after two singles put runners on the corners, Denver balked in a run and RF Augie Marshall (.091) had an RBI single... the Roosters RF Chuck Larkin (.200) deadlocked it in the top of the seventh with a 2-run smash... then Crystal Lake won it in the last half of the inning when Welch doubled (.143) and went to third on a fielder's choice... Welch scored the winning run on a wild pitch... not much hitting in the game... the Crushers had 6 hits to the Roosters 5.

Tycobbian Union

Ginza Grabs 1st Game, Ferguson Stops SF 4-1
Opening up out of town at Jock Ewing Stadium, the Ginza Ninjas grabbed game one of the Tycobbian Final 4 with a 4-1 triumph over the South Fork Stallions... Daniel Ferguson (2-1 0.36) pitched a whale of game, holding the potent Stallions to just 3 hits and an unearned run... Ferguson fired strikes past 8 batters and issued 3 walks in his 8 innings... closer Ken Kichida chalked up his second playoff save with a perfect 1-2-3 inning... SS Kurt Pankewicz's (.360) double gave South Fork an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the third... that was all the offense for the day for the Stallions... the Ninjas took charge in the top of the fourth on a bases-loaded walk to 2B Russ Van Kleek (.188) and a sacrifice fly by SS Ralph Hart (.158)... C Crash Davis (.208) singled in another run in the fifth to make it 3-1 and Ginza tacked on a run in the ninth on an RBI single by PH Yuko Mihashi (.333)... LF Daiki Kono (.304) led the Ninjas with 2 doubles in 4 at-bats.
