Cisco K's 17

Cisco K's 17

May 28th, 2004

Lincoln (AP)

Jason Cisco recorded 25 outs on opening day in Lincoln and he 17 of those outs didnt need to be fielded by the men behind him. Cisco proceeded to set a Northern League Baseball record for strikeouts in a game. Yet the bottom line is that Madison Blackwolf and Lincoln Salt Dogs were mired in a 3-3 tie after 9 which required extra frames to decide the opening day outcome. With Cisco on the bench relivers Mariano Filler and Kennett Anderson then led the Blackwolf to an all too familiar fate. The bullpen kicked off 2004 with a blown opportunity to redeem all the faults of the past season, but to no avail the Blackwolf trudged back to the locker room with a 6-3 loss.

Newly acquired Maurice Otten proved he was money well spent with a 3 run homer to end the game. " He just grooved a fastball and I took it yard. It was right down the pipe. The first time I was up against Cisco I didnt even see the ball. Lucky for me Anderson doenst throw as hard. I could see this one. " See it he did, all 411 feet of it for the game winner.
