2025 Islandian Pro Alliance Summary
Tight Races, Two Surprises In IPA
There were tight races all over the IPA this year... Three of the races were decided on the last day of the season and four others came down to the last week... only one team had a cakewalk and that was the Rolling Hills Reds, who won the TU West by 10 games.
No real surprises in the Ruthlandian divisions this season... the only repeat winner was the Middlefield Roosters, who captured the RU West for the third year in a row... The Roosters edged Stoner by a game and Sligo by 2... Crystal Lake won in the RU South by 3 games over Waleska... The Wynnamac Sundowners nipped Belle Plaine by a game in the RU East... Last year's division champ and Pro Cup runner-up Sugar Valley wound up fourth, 9 games out... Far Mountain trailed Ancona going into the last week, but came out ahead of the Red Elephants by 3 games with a late-season spurt.
Over in Tycobbia, there were two huge upsets... Fairfax came out of nowhere and claimed the TU North by 3 games over White River, who was looking to three-peat... The Frogs were fifth in 2024... Five rookies were the catalysts that made winners out of the South Fork Stallions in the TU East... They whipped two powerful teams to do it: Tuckanarra, who won the Pro Cup the last two seasons, and the strong Midway Wolves... South Fork was fifth last season, but won by 3 over the Blue Jays and 6 better than the Wolves... The other two division winners were Rolling Hills in the TU West and Ginza in the TU South... Both the Reds and Ninjas were expected to hotly contend for the pennants... Rolling Hills rolled past Kenwood by 10 games and Ginza won a dogfight by a single game over tough Turon.
The IPA Pro Cup playoffs will begin in three days on Thursday... In the Ruthlandian Union Far Mountain will open on the road in Crystal Lake and Middlefield will travel to Wynnamac... In Tycobbia, South Fork will host Rolling Hills and Ginza will entertain Fairfax... All series will be best-of-seven... Teams with the best season record will get the home team advantage.
