I have a question about starting up a historical league using the GamboDB. I started one in 1939 just to test it out, but as far as I can tell, only the 1939 MLB players imported initially - that is, no Negro Leaguers or Minor Leaguers whose careers would have been in progress in 1939 (I assumed they would show up as FAs). When I got to the next draft (I always draft), all the Negro Leaguers, young amateurs, and Asian players showed up in the pool as expected.

What this seems to suggest is that there are some players in the DB who debuted later than 1939 or not at all IRL, but who would have entered the league through the draft well before that. If those players aren't included in the original 1939 mass import, does the league essentially miss out on those players entirely, skipping over a good few years worth of talent? That can't be right, I must be doing this wrong... please advise.
