That would really be my only reason I would be against editing, its an advantage for the human owned team. I think as long as all are dealing with inferior trainers then things are balanced. You create a much better one for yourself and the extra $40-$50k is really irrelevant. If I think the trainers are too weak then I would feel the need to bump up ALL of them. Same for coaches, managers, scouts, etc.
I'm not talking about arbitrarily editing anything you have existing, although I could probably envision a scenario with that in mind. What I am referring to is the OP's contention that none were available, when in RL there 'should' always be one available at some cost. I'm also suggesting that one use the Create function to bring in that 'brand new' talent as well. And to each his own, but compensatory measures are necessary in the spirit of fairness you've described, IMHO. If $40-$50K isn't enough for an individual's relevance, then make it $150K and lower your scout's ability to scout international players because he's po'd you brought this guy in driving a Mercedes. It doesn't matter. The AI will be the AI and nothing we can do will balance it across the board, but if we take measures to sharpen one of our tools, we should also take measures to incur some cost for doing so. FWIW
