THE BABE'S FIRST BIG HIT

Babe Ruth ended his first week of the season with the biggest hit of his young season as the Bambino helped the Yankees avoid another loss and try to keep pace as the Baltimore Orioles have set the early pace in the American League West.

With his team trailing Ruth stepped up in the 8th inning off King Felix Hernandez and hit a towering bomb over the right field wall at Yankee Stadium with a man on. Ruth and his blow was enough for the Yankees as they held on to beat the Mariners by a score of 5-4.

Yankee Stadium gave Ruth a standing ovation and fans are still confident that this team can and will run away with the pennant.
