That said, I will note that the original design document I submitted contained many more features than made it into the game. For example, there is no mention in the opening post of playoff systems which involve a round-robin affair in the first round. I included these in the document.

That's incorrect. The playoff format involves the first and second half winners in each division plus one wild card qualifier from each division (the non-division winning club with the best overall record). Should a team win the division in both halves of the season, then two wild card teams qualify out of that division. |
You're right, I was incorrect. I was trying to dumb it down, for some reason. Silly me!
Regardless, it's impossible to replicate in OOTP.
