Yeah... I read the Readme on PadresFan's website for the database downloads but I still didn't quite get it.
What I'm looking for in my 1954 Historical league that I'm getting ready to start is players whose debut dates have been altered to their actual professional debut, so they enter the draft the year they started playing in the minors in real life. It sounds like one of those files will do what I'm looking for, but I'm not sure which. I don't want them to automatically hit the draft when they're 18 and I don't care about all the fringe players... just players who eventually made the majors (don't care about those who didn't) with professional debut dates instead of ML debut dates.
Is that something that one of your databases can provide? If so, which one should I download?
