WILLIE MAYS BREAKS OUT



The Say Hey kid finally broke out in a big way as he homered twice and drove in five runs in a 9-1 win over the Reds. Mays and the Giants gifted Christy Mathewson his first win in the blow out.

John McGraw and the Giants have been under some early pressure to win as their early record is 2-3 putting them two games behind the rival LA Dodgers already.

The likes of Barry Bonds (.200) and Will Clark (.154) are struggling to start the year. Clark has already seen much of the bench in favor of Willie McCovey.

"It was a Willie Mays kind of day." said Mays about his own perfromance tonight.
