For the Archery events, I am using the archery piece of an olympic simulation that someone put together over on Table Top Sports. The Archers will come from an event called the Scorton Arrow that has records dating back to the late 17th century.

They only list the Captain and Lieutenant of the arrow (1st and 2nd place) and then just the names of those competing (for the really early matches) - no ranking. So, I just made a spreadsheet and gave them 5 pts for Captain, 3 for Lieutenant and 1 for competing. I assumed that if they were terrible, they woudn't have competed for too many years so the scoring should be somewhat ok. Then I sorted then by total score. The sim from Table Top Sports has a rating value for archers on a scale by tenths up to 10. I bell curved the list of names from 5.0 to 9.3 and called it good.

Of course, there may be a small group of hard core anchient archery simmers out there that will berate me for rating Leonard Brakenbury higher than Reverend Theobalds or will claim that Cuthbert Routh was a much better rover than clout shooter and should therefore have a separate rating for that but I'll cross that bridge when it comes.

I may add horse racing to this in the 1770s as well.
