I think to have women represented in the game you need three things.
Name file
Face Gen
And personal pro nouns in the text files for league news and PBP

I think modders can take care of the first two options and could probably take care of #3 unless it is hard coded somehow...

...I feel like it would be mostly the same in OOTP. And I don't see why this is something that modders cannot take care of without any developmental effort from Markus.
This was exactly what I was thinking.

Yet again, I must reiterate that I don't care about women playing in OOTP. However, some of the features I do want to see added would also happen to allow the creation of female players.

First of all, I'd like to see Markus eventually purchase the Facegen license so that an in-game player editor can be implemented. This would allow the user to manually tweak the faces that are generated. It would also allow for longer hair and different accessories to be shown. Furthermore, with an integrated player editor, it should be easy to set up a pre-configured option to create female faces, just like it currently is for varying ethnicities.

Secondly, there is already a female first names file left over from when OOTP had the infamous "wives and girlfriends" option in it. We're already planning on recycling this database for use with storylines. So the file already exists. It's just a matter of using it to generate player names.

Finally, there are the text files. This would probably be the most complicated aspect of having women in the game. It would probably preclude the creation of co-ed leagues or maybe even mixed-league universes. However, if one has the option to select either male or female players at league setup, it would probably work rather easily.

(Sorry I keep jumping back in and prolonging this thread, but it just really ticks me off that there are people who are so vehemently opposed to those who favor it. And now that some have resorted to name-calling to drive home their point, I feel like the gauntlet has been thrown down! But don't worry, I'm focusing most of my attention on beta now, so I doubt I'll be wasting too much more time on this topic.)
