In your example, Mantle made his "pro" debut in 1949 in Class D at 17 years old. To get Mantle to debut that year, Spritze has to include statistical lines for the years he was in the minors. Unfortunately, there is no way around that other than to use the Lahman (default) DB which produces players the year they made their MLB debut.

Actually, this isn't correct.
My version of Spritze's database retains the correct historical statistics for the players. They will still debut according to their pro debut (not MLB -Mantle in 1949).
With my database you can only use neutralized statistics but then again all Spritze's numbers are neutralized anyway.
