Getting rid of reserve rosters

I have wonder how to do this for indies and historical major leagues. I have now found out how to make a league with no reserve roster and just your active roster. The trick is you have to have a minor league. What you do is make each team non-affiliated then set your 40 man roster = to your active roster. No more reserve and the team has no ability to carry more than the active roster because they have no minor league clubs.

This is working well from my 19th century league with fictional players. If you allow for ghost players in the minors the non-afilliated minor teams only sign maybe 3 or 4 players and you can have only 2 teams in the minors since you are not going to affiliate them. The only issue has really been with injuries. You can't adjust the 60 day DL so what happens is sometimes for a moderately long injury a cut might need to be made to get an appropriate backup.

I have not tried this with my modern league that includes indies yet but I am sure it will work. I have something like 500 FA in 1880 from the game generating players and all the contractions in the NA and NL and the minors with ghost players on are still only signing 3 or 4 guys. You also probably want to set minor league FA to 1 year to make sure the guys signed to minors will be available the next season.
