Right now there's no real difference between winning the wildcard and winning the division. Home field does not mean as much in baseball as in other sports, and the success of wildcard teams is proof of this.
Just look at the frickin' Marlins, two World Championships as the wildcard while the Braves won just one in fourteen years as division champions.
However, if there are two wildcards it means that both of those teams will have to use their best pitchers just to get to the divisional series.

braves had to use their best pitchers as did the marlins just braves are not a good postseason team while marlins had a crazy cuban and Bartman on their side. baseball playoffs usually comes down to which teams is the hottest atthat time.
