It was a clean slide, and Nishioka knew what he was up to when he went over to the States. But you are right, it is not exactly the way the game is played over here in Japan.
Pitchers over here are supposed to apologize to the hitters after they hit them with the pitch, and if they do not, then the hitters will go after the pitchers!

If the play (the slide) like this one happened in Japan, and if the 2B was a year older than the runner, oh boy, the bench will be cleared and the runner will be blamed for the "misbehavior" by everyone in the game.
It is just the difference of the culture, I guess.
