As I have already stated, the email might have been a bit too much and for that he should at least apologize to you and exercise more caution in the future.
Unique does not solely mean one of a kind. Its definition includes anything that is rare or unusual. Your definition is way too limiting at that could be why you are seeing his statements as false and therefore seeing him as a liar. Calling someone a liar in a public forum is something that shouldn't be taken lightly and can be considered by many to be just as bad as him having emailed your league members. I see nothing that he has said as any type of claim to have invented or thought up anything original and therefore I do not see him as being a liar.
