Sisler Walk Off Beats A's
Camden Yards - The Baltimore Orioles are involved in an ALL team race right now in the AL East as all teams are within one game of eachtother. On Tusday night in Baltimore George Sisler hit his first home run of the season at the right time as the Orioles beat the Athletics 5-4 in the tenth.
It was an emotional night as Reggie Jackson and manager Connie Mack were ejected from this game when in the 5th inning a close call at first base was made for the third out, a play that would have scored a run. The A's with the loss drop to one game under .500 and are having their own concerns as the favorites in the AL West.
Kenny Williams doubled twice in the game and Brian Roberts hit his second home run of the season. Dave McNally struck out 10 men in the win.
Hershiser Carries Brooklyn
Orel Hershiser gave his team the performance it needed as the Dodgers bested the San Diego Padres and Kevin Brown at Ebbets Field. Hershiser was matched pitch for pitch in a duel but had his best stuff and struck out 11 men. The Padres were missing Tony Gwynn who was out of the lineup with back stiffness.
Pedro Guerrero homered in the 6th inning, a shot that proved to be the diffrence in the game. The Dodgers cut a game off the Padres who are still a game ahead of them in the NL West standings.
Big Unit and Mariners Frustrate Yanks
Randy Johnson pitched a complete game and the Seattle Mariners stunned the New York Yankees at Yankee stadium 4-2. Ichiro Suzuki drove in two runs of his own and the runs were enough to overcome for the win.
The Yankees are only 8-7 on the season and have lost two in a row. Concern and pressure is a big deal now in the Bronx as great things are expected and nothing less from this team.
