Pirates have horrible first month of 2011 season
The Pirates had a horrible start to their 2011 campaign as the team put up just 4 wins to go along with 13 losses. This was not the start that the team or the fans had hoped and expected the team to have. The Pirates were worst in the NL in both runs scored and runs against in the month, which led to the horrible record. The Pirates are in last place in the NL Central trailing the Reds by a game and trailing the division leading Cardinals by 7.5 games.

Injuries:
Argenis Reyes was unsuccessful in his bid to have an injury free 2011. Reyes tore his labrum and will never play baseball again. It is an unfortunate injury for Reyes, a player who had an enormous potential but never saw the field enough to reach that potential. Prior to the injury he was 1/6 with a double. Freddy Sanchez was recalled from AAA Indianapolis and will take over the second base position
