Pirates improve to 12-14 in June

The Pirates continued to improve in the month of June. The team posted a 12-14 record during the month, which is their best record of any month so far this year. They stand at 31-47 on the year, a.397 winning percentage. Despite the improvements they are still in the basement of the NL Central, trailing the division leading Cubs by 17 games. Their pitching is still the strength of the team despite a month that saw them drop in the rankings from 5th in runs against to 6th. The offense continues to rank 15th in the league just as they have all year long. The bullpen continues to be strong as they are still ranked 3rd in the NL for ERA but the starters have been struggling to the point where the team ERA has fallen from 4th in the league to 6th. The staff continues to be good against homeruns and walks as they are 2nd and 1st in the league respectively.
