Call Ups:
Neil Walker was called up to the Pirates. He hit .400 with 4 HR, and 26 RBIs in April with the Indians. Walker is expected to split time with Andy LaRoche at third. Walker and LaRoche will be battling to find out who the regular third basemen will be. The Pirates are really high on Walker who they believe could be a 30/100 hitter. His good play over the first month showed the Pirates that he is ready for the majors, and LaRoche’s poor play opened the door for Walker.
Awards:
The Pirates were pleased to hear that Altoona Curve pitcher Brad Lincoln was named the Eastern League pitcher of the month. Lincoln was 4-0 with a 2.57 ERA during the month of April. Lincoln is the best Pirates pitching prospect and the Pirates are very excited to see that he is starting his season so strongly. Lincoln’s first month has prompted his promotion to AAA Indianapolis.
