This is one of the features I am really looking forward to.
Before I had ever heard of OOTP (or Season Ticket), I had played DMB. I had purchased some historical disks, but the entire collection was way out of my price range.
With OOTP, I can have the history of any given season in modern times. But with OOTP 11 and earlier, I could only have the snapshot at a given time. Say, the beginning of a season in my starting year. After that initial time point, the history (team ownership of players) diverges from reality.
Plus I'd have to guess at what the lineups might be. Guessing the lineup of one team is not too bad. But guessing for all teams in the league really adds up.
In the past, I have tried to play historical replays in order to re-live baseball history before I was born and become more familiar with the players in history. But when I've tried to keep the players on their real-life historical teams, entering all the transactions quickly becomes more trouble than it's worth.
If OOTP 12 adds this feature, I think I will enjoy reliving baseball history season by season. I don't expect to get historical results, stats wise and what not. But in my learning, I would love to know that I am playing out games with historically accurate lineups (including players from the appropriate teams).
I have heard so much about the black sox scandal. I would like to play out that season and get a feel for how much better than all the other teams they really were. This is the kind of historical replay I'm interested in.
