As a former customer of theirs, I'm tempted to dump on SOM for the bolded comment but I must recall that they have a different business model. IIRC, they get their annual revenue not so much by offering essentially the same game year after year, albeit with a few tweaks here and there, but by selling their season data files. OOTP gets revenue by reselling the game itself over and over, enticing resales with major enhancements and relying on the free (at least to us) Lahman's database. I think the annual costs of each are similar to dedicated fans.
