I see your point. But if one wants to realize any revenue at all from an older version, the only way I can see is to reduce the price on it. By keeping the cost at 100%, you direct all sales to the new version but kill off sales of everything prior. I guess that's just the cost of progress.
By the way, if the company really does make almost zero profit on discounted titles, Markus may want to reconsider the discount periods that seem to have become regular events at all-star and World Series time. They surely must impact the revenue realized from each new version. I know personally I'm not pre-ordering v12, but will wait and see what people have to say once the inevitable series of patches appear. I can pretty much count on picking the game up at a discount later on if I feel the need for it.
