Kind of yes but no. The issue is when I do my version I also include the transactions between the pro debut date and opening day of their debut season. Until the retrosheet database is up that information is either not there or is speculated by baseball-reference from another source I don't know. The retrosheet database is updated up to about February 2010.
So using that information I would know they were drafted in June 2004 with the A's, and they debuted on September 1st 2010 but I can not be certain of what teams they were with on opening day of 2005,2006,2007,2008,2009 or 2010. Baseball-reference may give some of that info but it's not certain.
Secondly, it's much easier for my purposes to do it via a database than go through each player.
