Using historical players in fictional league - Stats Question

My league setup: Fictional league that started in 1946. Think of it as a new league starting up post-WWII. I have it set at Major League level, though I suppose it could be compared to something like what the PCL was at that time.

My idea for this new league is to incorporate a few real players every season. When I get to 1970, I'm starting with Curt Flood and I'll bring in FAs every now and again. For now, I'm looking for players who never played in the majors after a certain year and bringing them in the following season. Often, I'm bringing in guys who were near the end of their careers just to test it out with some no-names.

When I import, I import the player's career stats because I want to have that full record of his performance. The problem is that the game treats this MLB performance as NBL (my league) performance. How do I know? Well, when I'm looking at career stats of FAs, under "Scope" I can select "Major League Level." For this I expect the player's MLB AND NBL stats to be merged. That's fine. But then lower in "Scope" I can select my league, and it still includes all the MLB stats. This, of course, is a problem. These players who have 10 year careers now dominate my leaderboards, and I don't want that.

I can easily delete/re-import all these players, so any help on how to do this while keeping those MLB stats out of my record books would be much appreciated.
