Braves Pound Reds 9-1 For 21st Straight Win!
Cincinnati- Sparked by Jeff Heath's 2 run homer in the top of the first, the Boston Braves bashed their way to a 9-1 victory over the last place Reds, extending their winning streak to an amazing 21 straight games. The streak, is now tied for the 2nd longest in baseball history, just 5 shy of the all-time record of 26 set by the 1916 New York Giants.
Masterson Impressive In First Boston Start
28 year old hurler Walt Masterson was spectacular in his first start with the Red Sox today, allowing just 1 run on 2 hits, while walking and striking out 5 in a complete game 2-1 victory over the White Sox here at Fenway Park.
Boudreau Injured In Tribe's Win
Led by RF Bob Kennedy, who was 5 for 5 with a double, 3 RBI and 2 runs scored, the Cleveland Indians throttled Yankee pitching today, pounding out 19 hits in a 13-4 victory here at Yankee Stadium. Lost for up to a month however was player-manager Lou Boudreau, who injured his thumb in a collision at second base.
