Hi,

We in tMBU (the MoneyBall Union) have moved our draft date from June 1st to April 1st. This was to ensure we can run FA compensation until opening day (also 1st April) and then disable FA comp on April 1st and have a day of draft pick trading before and during the draft. That way we get the best of both worlds.

However, the hitters who have been drafted since this time are - for the very large majority - hitting below .200 and some drastically below expectations - so much so that some players are listed in the minors reports as "probably not ready for rookie ball" and have been for a couple of seasons.

(Note: We have AAA, AA, A, SS-A and two (equivalent) levels of Rookie ball in our minors and we have scouts but not coaches)

We have 1 College feeder to the draft and 2 High school feeder leagues. The College playing year is from mid-February to mid-May and the High School playing years occur from 1st April to early June.

I have concerns that the moving of the draft from 1st June to 1st April has somehow messed with the development of the drafted players. Never have we had this kind of - I call it seriously worrying "adjustment" - that one would expect to see moving into pro-ball.

So, my question is this: When the players are released to the draft pool, does the game adjust their ratings to ensure that they do not suck completely in the lowest level of our minors or am I being overly concerned and it's not a big issue?

Any other information you need to discern if there is a reason, please let me know.
