Triple Crown Chase
With 10 games remaining, Los Angeles' Dan Brouthers has the chance to add another note to a brilliant career, as he is within striking distance of becoming the first Triple Crown winner in Pastime Baseball League history.
Brouthers currently leads the Southern League with 32 homers and 113 runs batted in. He's batting .332, a point behind St. Louis' Rusty Staub and two points behind Alabama's Buddy Kerr. Chino Smith of Alabama looms behind at .329. Willie Stargell of Memphis is one homer behind with 31, while Staub trails in RBI by 2.
But Staub's numbers may be locked in, as he's been sidelined with an abdominal strain. If Brouthers has a good final week, he could add a new entry to a full slate of career accomplishments.
