Thompson adds new milestone
Arizona star first to reach 1,000 RBIs

PHOENIX -- A month ago, Arizona's Sam Thompson became the fourth player in PBL history to amass 1,500 hits.

Tonight, he hit a sixth inning SAC Fly against Orlando's Denny McLain to drive home Mike Hargrove, and in so doing became the first player in PBL history to reach 1,000 RBIs.

As was the case in last month's milestone game, Arizona fell, this time losing 6-3.

"I shouldn't have any more of these kind of things this season," Thompson said afterward. "So maybe we'll get some wins."

The Sandmen have gotten plenty of those, and currently lead the Los Angeles Idols by four games in the Southern League West Division.
