I am starting a league from 1989 to present. Is there an easy way to avoid players like Sosa, Mcgwire, etc. from hitting 60-70 home runs through the 90's, without messing with the modifiers every season, or editing players?

Would simply unchecking the "Automatically adjust league totals modifiers after each season for historical accuracy" option work? or would that mess up stats even more?
