Well, Favre certainly held the Vikes over a barrel. And it is certainly rude to wait until training camp to retire. But I doubt they would have done anything different - they were either going with Favre or the backups they have. At least he didn't wait until the end of training camp. Now the other guys can at least get reps.

LeBron was native to the area, was a hometown hero, then had a one hour ESPN live special to give his hometown the finger. Not to mention the fact that the Cavs went from NBA champ contender to 35 win team in the process.

I would say Favre leaving the Packers to try to go to the Bears or Vikes is more akin to the LeBron situation, though the Packers have a little more culpability than the Cavs.
