SEPT. 10, 2016

Memphis 8, Chicago 3: Denny LeMaster (8-14, 4.01) was pounded for 7 runs over 2 2/3, and Brian Lawrence (8-10, 4.88) wouldn't let them come back despite the Chicago's bullpen's strong work after LeMaster's ouster. Otto Velez and George Wright homered for Memphis.

Sacramento 9, St. Louis 6: The Stingers beat 20-game winner Tommy Bond, handing him his 7th loss, banging out 18 hits that included two homers from Ted Kluszewski. Don Buford added four hits for Sacramento. Rookie Duke Snider hit his 9th for St. Louis.

Arizona 7, Wichita 1: Justin Verlander (8-12) threw a complete-game 3-hitter as the Brigade continue to falter in September, now having dropped 8 of 9, their offense sputtering terribly. Willie Wells had two hits, including his 16th homer, and drove in 3 for the Sandmen.
