SEPT. 8, 2016

Chicago 6, Memphis 3: The last run of interleague play begins with the Hitmen getting homers from all three in the heart of their order. Babe Ruth (23), Charley Jones (29) and Roger Connor (21) each went deep to back Rich Gale (3-1, 1.43).

St. Louis 10, Sacramento 9: The Stingers left 13 on base in this donnybrook that saw Rube Marquard and Fergie Jenkins each hit hard in an affair that saw the game tied or lead change 9 different times. Joel Youngblood drove in four for Sacramento, and now is hitting .500 with 2 homers and 9 RBI this month. PBL RBI leader Fred Lynn drove in another and had three hits for the first-place Tides.

Arizona 3, Wichita 2 (10 innings): Dan Casey (11-8) threw a 10-inning complete game and Larry Gardner hit a walkoff homer in the 10th off Chad Cordero to blow starter Rube Waddell's 9-inning, two-run, six-hit performance, sending the Brigade back down to .500, their two-month run in July and August seeming a distant memory.
