Markus said he fixed this, but just to clarify:

Changing the Priority of the main thread of the program will NOT downgrade performance at all from the game (If you are running it alone). The priority comes in to play when you are sharing your time slices with other programs..and effects how "selfish" the program is with sharing. (Kinda like pre-school).

When it's set to the highest priority, it "hogs" all the toys (CPU) even when no-one is trying to "play". (And that's unnecessary --and will not slow down the game at all).
