I am wondering, if Penn State leaves the Big Ten, and to me that would be a big surprise, seeing how they are always in the hunt for the Rose Bowl... It is only Ohio State and Michigan usually that makes the final two to join Penn State in competition... Yes I know that Wisconsin has made strides, but , reality here...
Why would Penn State oppose Pitt? Because of their coach I assume. He has ducked Pitt for years if I remember right. I am not sold on the Pittsburgh university joining the Big Ten, but, would agree that they probably would be a good fit.
Instead of going east, I would rather see the Big Ten go past the Mississippi and Ohio Rivers and snare some teams. Louisville or Kentucky or Tennessee would be a good choice, and Missouri or Nebraska or Iowa State would also be another choice.
I would rather see teams brought in from South and West than the East.
I really am at a loss with Big East. Should they become a basketball conference only? That would gut the history and prestige the league has had if it only goes one sport only conference.
If Syracuse and BC and Miami leaves, I am afraid the Big East will be a patchy shadow of what they used to be. Sad that.
