This may be easier than I thought but you have to be able to do a couple of things. This assumes a Windows OS; if you have something different I can't help.
Do you know how to open files by right clicking and choosing "open with" and choosing a program? I hope so.
Here is the step by step
Launch OOTP
Choose "Game Preferences" then click on the "Troubleshooting" tab.
Click on Open folder containing file "paths.cfg"
Windows file manager (or other program) will launch and show a list of files.
Right click on the file "paths.cfg". Hopefully you will have a choice to "open with". If so open with notepad or any text editor. This file is a text file.
Delete all text in the file. It should be blank.
Save as___ paths.cfg.
Don't save it with a .txt extension it wont work.
After all this exit OOTP. Exit is on the bottom RHS.
Launch OOTP and you should be good.
