Groveland Acclaimed Best Manager In RU
The baseball pollsters finally got around to giving one of the most successful managers in the IPA a long-awaited award. BNN has selected Far Mountain's fine skipper Alex Groveland as the Ruthlandian Union Manager of the Year. Groveland has won four pennants and two Pro Cups, but has never received any awards for it. Traditionally the award has gone to the most-improved team's manager each year. Groveland got it this year for posting the best record in the IPA with a 96-58 mark.
Belair Beach's Marty Pedroza and Cold Creek's T. Kelly Holmes ran second and third to Groveland, but finished well back in the voting. Pedroza guided the Sunbirds to their third pennant with an 89-65 record, while Holmes piloted the Catamounts from 5th place in 2011 to the RU East division crown this season with a 79-75 mark. It was the second time Cold Creek had taken the pennant. Colfax's Clem Rogers has won the Manager of the Year trophy twice, in 2009 and 2010.
