2012 Ruthlandian Union Pro Cup Final 4 Series - Game 1

FM Redhawks Take Final 4 Opener
The red-hot Far Mountain Redhawks continued unbeaten in this year's postseason. They downed the Sligo Rovers 7-2 in game one of the RU Final 4 Series, played at Sky High Stadium. It was the 5th straight victory for Alex Groveland's talented team as they try to repeat last year's Pro Cup championship. 35-year-old right-hander Robby Kelly mastered the hard-hitting Rovers, stopping them on 6 hits for his 3rd playoff win this year. Kelly (3-0 2.00) walked four and fanned four in the complete-game victory. The Redhawk bats continued to sizzle with 10 hits, led by CF Xavier Sosa (.458), SS Don Nichols (.400), RF Julian Zavala (.500) and 2B Jim Rhodes (.222), all with two hits each. Far Mountain jumped out to an early 3-0 lead after 3 innings and expanded it to 5-0 in the sixth. They pelted 22-game winner Vinnie Rastelli (1-2 2.35) for 5 runs and 8 hits in six innings, although shoddy play cost him 3 unearned runs.
