Match fixing takes place don't let anyone tell you different, 1982 West Germany 1-0 Austria, Germans needed a 1-0 or 2-0 victory to send them through Austria also knew this would send them through. Germany scored early on and for 80 minutes they just passed the ball around and neither team wanted to score another goal knowing they'd both go through, people may not call it match fixing but if it walks like a duck quacks like a duck them trust me it's a duck.

1978 Argentina on home soil needed to beat Peru by 4 goals, they beat them 6-0 and guess what the Peruvian goalkeeper was born in Argentina. They were actually supposed to kick off at the sametime as Brazil so neither team would have an advantage but some unknown reason the Argentina game was delayed, they may not call it match fixing but dodgy dealings happen in the world cup.
