Gale Tosses Shutout for Brooklyn
BROOKLYN, NY. June 20, 1915 - Ed Gale put a hex on Chicago in a sparkling 9-0 shutout performance, mesmerizing them on a 1-hit gem.
"I feel good physically," he said. "Everything's comfortable. You should pitch well when that's the case."
It was anything but comfortable for Chicago.
"Gale used his changeup very well, very effectively," the opposing manager said. "He threw it in hitter's counts."
The Brooklyn Tip-Tops hurler fanned 3 and walked 2.
So far this year, 1914's #1 pick has made 21 starts, tossed 179.1 innings, struck out 75 batters and walked 48. His record is 6-12 with a 2.96 ERA and he has limited opposing teams to a .247 batting average.
