Chicago Loses Gilbert Stiles

CHICAGO, IL. May 5, 1915 - Chicago fans will be disappointed to learn that Gilbert Stiles suffered a sprained ankle while colliding with a player at a base in yesterday's game. After the doctor informed the Chicago Orphans manager that Stiles was expected to miss 5 weeks, the manager told the press that the rest of the team would have to step up their play until the shortstop could return. "You can't make excuses in baseball, because there's always a game tomorrow," said the team's skipper.

This season Stiles is swinging the bat at a .353 pace. He's scored 24 times, while driving in 21. His on-base percentage is .451 and he has played in 30 games.
