Out of the Blue: Baseball in the Arabian States

So this is my fictional account of baseball spreading to the Middle East.

During WWII, many american soldiers went to the North African Front. In their free time many of them played american sports like Baseball. Despite clear differences in culture, many locals were in awe of the game. But this would not spark an Arabian interest in baseball. Oh no, my friend, this was just the intro to baseball in the Arabian States. The real spark was in 1972, when the cold war affiliation of Egypt changed from the Soviets to the Americans. By the 80s, after Egypt had been in the news alot over the 70s, tourists started to flock to see the pyramids and all that jazz. Among them, was (fictional) renowned baseball player Ike Schmid. After seeing how bad life is in Egypt compared to America, Ike decided to arrange a couple pickup games in various cities. Word started to spread around Egypt, and soon an Amateur scene sprouted. However, baseball wouldn't spread to the rest of the Arabian States until the 90s, after Egypt's Diplomatic relations with the Arab League were restored. In my world, it caught on fast. In 1997 a league was formed in Egypt, with 4 teams. This is where i start my game.
