Overall the database include all major league players, star minor leaguers, negro leaguers, japanese/korean players and a few others. For all these players their stats have been neutralized according to level (or league) and age.
Both databases include minor league years and post major league seasons (for players played their last major league game prior to 35 years old). Both use the same neutralized statistics so at the core there is no difference.
The idea is that it expands the amount of real players available to you and does not constrict you to using major league players only when they appeared in the majors. Also, these are both in .odb format so there is not the import issues (crashing/time) there were previously.
Spritze includes versions that have all players, only american players and with those two versions that have players debut at 18 (high school) or real debut. Keep in mind real debut means.
My version of the database includes all americans from Spritze (including those who played only foreign ball), any others from Sprize who played in the U.S. and now in this version the top 50 historical Japanese players. Additionally, players will debut when they 1st played professionally. Upon league creation players will be in the organization they were with on opening day of that year. (If they signed with a team on the 2nd day of the season, they're a Free Agent).
The other big difference is that the player and league statistical history will only have Major League statistics wheras Spritze will show their statistics regardless of league and level. The reason I set up mine this way is I want actual Major League History in my league and having the additional stats affects career totals. If I start a league in 1970, Hank Aaron will be chasing Babe Ruth's homerun record of 714. The possible negative part of this is that players like Josh Gibson or Sadaharu Oh will not have any statistics by which to compare their OOTP performance to. However, their Negro League and/or Japanese statistics will not translate to MLB performance anyway. These players will be a somewhat unknown quantity and the player will have to judge their expectations solely on reputation. (Don't worry, the game not showing their real statistics does not mean they are not rated properly as this is pulled from a separate file)
