I seriously doubt that A&M would be welcome in the Big 10, but if they are seriously considering the SEC due to Gene Stallings connections there, then Texas would not have to worry about staying with them. It has gone from what, at first, appeared had to be a package deal of Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech and Baylor, to now possibly Texas being a loner and going where they can best enhance their own financial situation.

If Texas and TA&M aren't necessarily a package deal, and do go their separate ways, there's a possibility that this thing stops at 14 teams per conference. Playing 9 conference games makes that a bit more reasonable when you want to see matchups. Probably wishful thinking though.
