and he did foul a ball off his ankle the the inning before so going full bore and trying to plant with all that pressure may not have been the brightest idea anyway considering he had no chance to get the runner at home and IF he "hustles" full bore, doesn't roll his ankle when he plants AND makes a perfect throw he MAY have had a shot at the runner at 3rd.

Let's do remember that after fouling off the pitch, he hit a grounder in which he sprinted to 1st to try to avoid a double play. He also sprinted to try and catch the ball. Then he jogged. So I guess it only hurts when it is affects his stats.
